Exiles
The Twelfth Annual Conference of the Atlantic Mediaeval Association will be held at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador on 18 and 19 October 2019. The theme for this year’s conference is Exiles: we intend this theme to cover any and all explorations (geographical, topographical, paleographical and codicological, literary, and historical) of things displaced, misplaced, replaced, emplaced, migrated, or exiled. We invite papers on medieval subjects, within and across disciplines, related to this theme.
The keynote speakers for AMA 2019 are Dr. Cynthia Neville (Professor Emeritus, Dalhousie University; George Munro Professor of History and Political Economy; FRHistS, FSA Scot) and Dr. Richard Hoffmann (Professor Emeritus, York University; FRSC). The meeting will be accompanied by events on the theme of medieval traditions in Newfoundland and Labrador, including a manuscript workshop and guided tours of museums and historic monuments.
Proposals (300 words) and a brief biographical statement should be sent to John A. Geck (email) by 31 March, 2019. Abstracts and papers can be presented in either French or English. Proposals of complete panels are also welcome.

La douzième rencontre annuelle de l’Atlantic Mediaeval Assocation se tiendra à l’Université Memorial de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador les 18 et 19 octobre 2019 autour du thème suivant : Exilé(e)s. Nous vous invitons à soumettre des propositions de communication portant sur des sujets médiévaux autour de ce thème entendu au sens large : à savoir l’exploration (géographique, topographique, paléographique et codicologique, littéraire et historique) d’objets déplacés, replacés, égarés, émigrés ou exilés. Nous invitons des contributions sur des sujets médiévaux, de n’importe quelle discipline ou à caractère interdisciplinaire, liés à ce thème.
Les conférenciers principaux pour l’AMA 2019 seront Mme Cynthia Neville (Professeure émérite, Université Dalhousie ; George Munro Professor of History and Political Economy ; FRHistS, FSA Scot) et M. Richard Hoffmann (Professeur émérite, York ; MSRC). La rencontre sera accompagnée d’activités sur le thème des traditions médiévales à Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador, incluant un atelier d’étude de manuscrits et des visites guidées de musées et monuments historiques.
Prière d’envoyer les propositions de communication (comprenant un résumé de 300 mots et une courte notice biographique) à M. John A. Geck (email) d’ici le 31 mars 2019. Les résumés comme les présentations peuvent être en français ou en anglais. Des propositions de sessions complètes sont aussi bienvenues.
